Trail is a small rural community just north of Shady Cove and west of Lost Creek Lake. Sitting on the banks of the Rogue River, this area is world-famous for its “year-round” salmon and steelhead fishing. With its warm-summer Mediterranean climate, Trail is known for an abundance of recreational activities: rafting, boating, water skiing, hiking, and camping. Golf lovers would appreciate a short drive to the 18-hole Eagle Point Golf Course, ranked one of the Top 10 in the nation.
 
Trail is home to Cole M. Rivers Fish Hatchery - the largest hatchery on the west coast, annually rearing 3.7 million spring Chinook, Coho steelhead and rainbow trout. Another area attraction is the Upper Rogue Historical Society’s Trail Creek Museum, where history lovers can explore pioneer artifacts and the history of the region. And if you are planning a special event or just need a place to get away, check out the Rogue River Lodge, a fishing lodge with multiple cabins, a restaurant/lounge, and a riverside event center. 
 
Trail is served by the Eagle Point School District 9.
